Do Something!

I want to offer you guys some easy and practical ways to get out in the world and DO SOMETHING to better mankind, to put your faith into action, and to be apart of the solution. Remember my motto: Everyone can do something!

It's true. We can actually make a difference.

So from now on I will call these little sections: Do Something!

This week? Here's what going on.

The Senate is considering a $4 billion cut from the president's 2009 international affairs budget. This budget is where we get money to fund initiatives that fightHIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and other forms of extreme poverty around the world. This would be a devastating setback for those of us who want to see America lead the way in eradicating global poverty, and would be devastating for the millions of needy people who would be effected by our greediness.

Thankfully two senators, Richard Durbin (D-IL) and Gordon Smith (R-OR), have introduced an amendment to restore $2.6 billion to the international affairs budget. Man I am so grateful for these two men who believe in what is truly important. Now we need to encourage senators from every state to support this amendment! To support our values which are basically: we value human life, not only in America, but around the world and we want to commit some of our finances to meeting the needs of others and ending global poverty. It is just the golden rule: Love your neighbor as yourself.

To encourage your senator to vote for this amendment only takes seconds. Click on the link below, fill in your name and a comment if you wish, and by the end of the week we will make sure each senator is given a copy of the thousands of people who have petitioned to make the world a better place! Please sign right now!

Friends...we can all do something. Wherever you are right now give thanks for every comfort, security, warm meal, and warm home you have ever enjoyed. And remember the least of these. Take action on their behalf.

The Lord will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:40

Happy Friday.
