I am a volunteer at WCC and helped with setting up for your concert yesterday. After setting up I went home to get my family, and we sat near the back for the show. I cannont descibe the emotions that went through me during the show, with Nick Stanton playing and then with Addison Road. Just watching all of the kids up by the stage was incredible, all those young people with all the passion for a relationship with god...incredible. I just want to say thank you for coming to our little town and playing a great show.

This is such a great post and the decapitated deer analogy just draws everyone in.

I remember seeing a decapitated deer along the road here in Pennsylvania. But it was JUST THE HEAD. I have no idea where the rest of the deer's body was.

And here's my dummy moment--I was so shocked by the whole thing, I yelled, "Omigosh! There's a deer head on the side of the road! Look!" I pointed to my right as the van full of college students I was taking to church witnessed that lovely sight. Uh, yeah. Not my finest hour.

Aw! Poor deer! I'm not a complete animal sympathizer, but that image would be hard to forget.
I completely agree with what you said about some people shielding their kids from the world and when the two collide (kid and the real world), it's like one big shock to them. Thanks for this post, it made me think.
Now every time I see road kill, I'll be like, "Look away, dummy, look away!" Haha :)

I love what you said about protecting our children. I struggle with that everyday wondering if what my husband and I are teaching is too much or perhaps armor for the real world, as awful as the real world is. I've been been hit by close friends who've shunned me because our kids go trick or treating. I've been chastised because my heart wants to give to some really desperate people...sometimes I need the quiet time to hear His voice and drown out all others.

I like how you put it about burying our heads in the sand to stop from noticing the world and how Jesus didn't do that. It makes me think about how in Jesus's day, during his ministry, so many religious people would bury their heads to the world around them. They buried them so well that they missed Jesus too. On top of hiding from sin and darkness, they failed to catch a glimpse at true love.

As a parent, I completely agree with your thoughts on shielding your kids from everything. now, I'm not out letting them get tattoos at 5 and 3, but they HAVE to see whats in this world if they want to change it. And how wil they cope if, at 21, i take off the blindfold and shove them out into the world? I hope my kids will have more knowledge, stregnth and compassion to do whats right than the child that had been unaware it's whole life!

Hey Jenny,

"All you need is love." as Lennon would say. Jesus gave us the golden rule of love. Love covers a multitude of sins and it should be the goal of our lives. Personally, I think love doesn't give up on people and quit on them. It seeks an opportunity to love people and speak your testimony for you, so you don't have to even preach. Your love preaches for you.

Love the world, one person at a time. But dont wait for them to come to your door. Go to their door.

Wow, Jenny. Just when I stop checking your blog as often to see if you have written anything, just when I need the very words you typed to be burned into my brain, just when God orchestrated your life and helped you realize all of these things, I needed to hear them. Thank you, is really all I have to say.
Last night I watched as a friend of ours was reconciled to an amazing friend. I watched as another friend shared his true heart, and I read a book that had many themes, but the main one was reconciliation and learning how to live with our eyes wide open in the arms of God.
What an amazing story of living with your eyes wide open to the point of realizing that we need to do so.

Great thoughts, Jenny! I've been listening to Jason Gray's cd a lot these past weeks, and talk about a redemptive theme! I'm trying to learn how to open up to what God has placed right in front of me. Thanks for sharing this.
